Collage
Like collecting words to create poems, my collage process is to collect images from both Nature and from outside art – buildings, public art, industrial images. These are the vocabulary I work with to create something more. By juxtaposing every day objects I can emphasis unique or startling qualities and deliver a different idea of an object. I experiment in investing these everyday objects with more meaning than they are given credit for. The overlooked, the historical, the literary all play a part in creating a scene or a moment of being (if you will). Call out to the Victorian ladies who started this art form by cutting up photos of friends and acquaintances and glueing their heads onto painted ducks and geese just for the fun of it.
